1. It's easy to install and easy to remove. No need for messy adhesive pastes or special tools!

2. It's versatile. Peel-and-stick wallpaper can be applied to multiple surfaces including walls, furniture, ceilings, and even as a custom art piece.

3. It can save you time and money. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is typically less expensive than traditional wallpaper and it can be installed within a few hours leaving you with more time and cash to put toward other home projects!

4. It comes in a variety of designs. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is perfect for renters, military families, and people who like to change things up as their style evolves.

5. It's low maintenance. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is perfect for high-traffic areas because it's easy to clean and holds up well over time.

How to Install Peel & Stick Wallpaper

1. First and foremost, ALWAYS read the instructions that come with the peel-and-stick wallpaper you plan to use to be sure that you are aware of any specific instructions for that particular product.

2. Prepare the surface. Thoroughly clean the surface that you will be applying the peel-and-stick wallpaper to and make sure it is free of dust, debris, and grease.

3. Measure and cut. Measure the length and width of the wall or surface to determine how much wallpaper you will need. Add an extra inch or two to your measurements to allow for trimming and the occasional "oops" (just keeping it real, ya'll). Cut the wallpaper to the correct size for your wall or surface.

4. Line it up. Place the wallpaper against the wall or surface, matching the top edge with the ceiling or reference point (maybe a corner depending on your space).

5. Peel + apply. CAREFULLY peel off the backing of your peel-and-stick wallpaper, making sure to keep the adhesive side against the wall. Press it onto the wall or surface, smoothing out any bubbles or wrinkles as you go.

[Bonus Tip: this is much easier if you have a "buddy system" to help you steady the ladder and/or remaining paper while you smooth things out on the wall or surface you're applying it to!]

6. Trim and repeat. Once your peel-and-stick wallpaper is applied, trim away any excess paper along the edges of the wall or surface using a small knife or rotary trimmer. Then, simply repeat the process with additional pieces of wallpaper, making sure to match the patterns or seams as you go.

Where NOT to Use Peel & Stick Wallpaper

While I do really love the versatility of peel-and-stick wallpaper, there are a few places that I wouldn't recommend using it. It should not be used on surfaces that are heavily textured (think popcorn ceilings or old plaster walls...yes, they do still exist!). You'll drive yourself bananas trying to get it to look just right and well, it never will.

I don't recommend using peel-and-stick wallpaper on surfaces that have been painted with glossy or washable paint, heavy lacquer, or on walls that are damp or have been treated with a mildew-resistant coating. It is also not recommended for use in areas with high humidity or moisture, such as bathrooms or kitchens.

Not All Peel & Stick Wallpaper Is The Same!

Just like any other purchase for your home, do your research! If you find a peel-and-stick wallpaper you like and it's really inexpensive, be very cautious. It may not stick well. It can also end up being too sticky and that can cause damage to your walls. Plus, it defeats the purpose of removable wallpaper!
