  • Start with a console table with functional storage, a bold color, or unique hardware. This is your foundation and you want to be sure you have something great to build your look.

  • Choose a mirror in a bold color or pattern as your focal point and center it 4-6 inches above your console top.

  • Flank the sides of your mirror with tall buffet lamps in a fun texture or a finish that is different from your mirror to add interest.

  • Mix in faux florals or a plant and other tabletop decorative objects to give a variation in height and keep the eye moving. This also helps the look to feel complete and avoid having it look flat.

  • Add large storage baskets for cozy blankets, etc. to add style, warmth, and texture.

|| The Large Entryway ||

  • Start with a long console table or tall bench that appropriately fills the space in a neutral/minimalist look.

  • Use a set of prints, custom wall art, or photography to use as your focal point and hang them 4-8 inches above the table.

  • Mix in faux florals, unique pottery, and a mid-sized table lamp to flank the sides of your wall decor and give balance to the look.

  • Add a set of unique or bold patterned ottomans beneath your console for additional seating and a pop of color.

|| The Small Entryway ||

  • Start with a bold statement piece like a cabinet or chest as your base to immediately elevate the space. Small on space doesn't mean you have to be small on style!

  • Add a simple vertical mirror to reflect light and make the space appear larger.

  • Layer in tabletop decor of varying heights to finish the look. Keep these pieces understated and neutral to create a clean look that doesn't feel overwhelming for the small space.

Bonus Tip: Remember to choose console tables, benches, or cabinets that appropriately fit your space. A good "rule of thumb" is to make sure your furniture piece fills 2/3 of the wall space you have to work with and you'll always have the right size!

|| The Takeaway ||

* Choose a console table that fits the space, makes a great foundation, and adds versatility and functionality to your home.

* Use a focal point that showcases your style like a fun mirror or piece of art.

* Create a cohesive look by adding tabletop decor in varying heights that completes the look and keeps the eye moving.

*Add storage or seating for an elevated look and functional purpose.
