Holiday Decor: Pillow Covers & Throw Blankets

Accessories are my jam. I love to sprinkle little sparks of joy in various rooms of the house. And one of my favorites? Pillows. I LOVE pillows and their faithful buddies - cozy throw blankets! They can do so much with so little effort and I'm always amazed at how they can change the feel of a room in an instant.

Every few months with the changing of the seasons, I like to swap my pillow covers and coordinating throw blankets. It's the perfect little "pick me up" that always makes me smile as I walk through the living room to gather up the toys that I know my daughter will be searching for later ("Mama, if Marshall is missing how will the Paw Patrol pups complete their mission?!") and the dog toys that my big guy (105 lbs of hopelessly loving and loyal Doberman that never leaves my side) has left behind on his quest to protect our home from the ever-so-dangerous mailman. And so, in today's blog I thought I'd share a few fun combinations for you to shop this holiday season!

Before we dive too deep into these gorgeous holiday combinations, I want to make note that all or most of the shoppable links below are to pillow COVERS. So, if you don't already have some pillow inserts that you love, I suggest taking a look at these down and down-alternative options from Crate & Barrel before you purchase any of the pillow covers I'm going to show you below!

Design Tip: When shopping for pillow inserts,

use an insert one size larger than your pillow cover to get that full plump look.

Well, now that we've got that out of the way, let's get to the fun part! Ready to get your shop on?

Let's start with the classics. You can't go wrong with red at Christmas! There is something nostalgic and cozy about a tartan blanket, cheerful red pillows, a crackling fire, and the sound of Christmas carols playing in the background. Ahh, I can almost hear Bing Crosby and smell the sweet scent of cookies baking in the oven... Check out these finds from Amazon and Etsy!

Who doesn't love a little whimsical spin on the holidays? When I saw this throw blanket by The Company Store, I just knew I had to find some fun pillow covers to go with it! Here's a few that will tie it all together and give you that bit of cheerful whimsy - gnome what I mean?! (I couldn't help myself, y'all. I love a good #dadjoke!) Shop this look below!

There is something so welcoming, relaxed, and cozy about a chunky sweater knit throw and buffalo check pillows. A simple black, white, and red color palette, is a great way to make sure you will always be able to easily mix and match coordinating decor. Shop this look below!

Tip: Keep a few of these around until Valentines Day.

It will keep the cozy cheer around a bit longer!

Maybe it's neutrals you're looking for this holiday season. I've got something for you, too! This heathered oatmeal throw and the tiniest pops of color in the pillow pattern details may be just the thing you need to do a quick transformation. You'll be all set through the winter season with this neutral color palette!

"I'll have a blue Christmas without you..." If you sang that in a silly Elvis voice, you're my people. But, seriously. How lovely is this winter wonderland palette of navy blue and evergreen?! Snow flakes, classic plaids, and evergreen trees are universally cozy, easy to mix and match, and will have you snuggled up by the fire with hot cocoa and a good book until the groundhog appears for another nail-biting shadow search in February. Shop this look below!

Whatever your ideal #holidaystyle or dream winter look may be, I hope you enjoy shopping these looks and gathering inspiration for your next seasonal transformation!
